Förderpreis an C. Brooke Penaloza-Patzak für die Dissertation 'Guiding the Diffusion of Knowledge: The Transatlantic Mobilization of People and Things in the Development of US Anthropology, 1883-1933'
Brooke Penaloza-Patzak ist Historikerin mit den Forschungsschwerpunkten Wissenschaftsgeschichte und Sammlungsgeschichte als Gesellschafts- und Kulturgeschichte. Sie studierte Malerei und decorative Kunst, Designgeschichte und materielle Kultur in New York, USA, und promovierte sich im Fach Geschichte an der Uni Wien im 2018. Ihre Dissertation “Guiding the Diffusion of Knowledge: The Transatlantic Mobilization of People and Things in the Development of US Anthropology, 1883-1933” war von, unter anderem, dem DOC-Stipendium der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften (2014-2018), einer Visiting Predoctoral Fellowship am Max Planck Institute for the History of Science (2017), einer Österreichische Forschungsgemeinschaft International Communication Travel Grant (2015), einer American Museum of Natural History Collection Study Grant und einer Smithsonian Institution Summer Institute in Museum Anthropology Fellowship (2013) gefördert.
Brooke Penaloza-Patzak is a historian focused on the history of knowledge and scientific collection as social and cultural history. She studied painting, art history, decorative art, design history, and material culture in New York, USA, and received her doctoral degree in the field of history from the University of Vienna in 2018. Her dissertation, entitled “Guiding the Diffusion of Knowledge: The Transatlantic Mobilization of People and Things in the Development of US Anthropology, 1883-1933” has been supported by, among others, a DOC-Stipendium from the Austrian Academy of Sciences (2014-2018), a Visiting Predoctoral Fellowship at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science (2017), an Österreichische Forschungsgemeinschaft International Communication Travel Grant (2015), an American Museum of Natural History Collection Study Grant, and a Smithsonian Institution Summer Institute in Museum Anthropology Fellowship (2013).
